St John's Wood is a quiet, desirable residential district in North London, renowned for its secluded atmosphere, detached houses and grand mansion flats, on the doorstep of Regent's Park, London Zoo and Primrose Hill. Its leafy, relaxing setting and fashionable High Street have made the area popular with families. It was one of the first London suburbs to benefit from the development of low-density villa housing in the 19th century.
